Pumpkin Time

Saturday was all about pumpkin's; carving them, eating them, and our little Punkin!!!

We took Olivia to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkin's and she just loved it. I sat her with all the pumpkin's and she was so interested in the hay that was on the ground and all the pumpkin's around her. It was so funny just to watch her.

Fun at the pumpkin patch with my little twin punkin!

Saturday night we had our carving party, or as Mark lovingly refers to it as "The Pumpkin Slaying"! We had a great time with all our friends. The kids loved it too, I think. I carved Olivia's pumpkin and I am sure next year's will be better, now that I know you have to carve the dark part and not the white.

5 Months

5 Months
Stats:
Weight: 13lbs. 11ozs.
(No Dr. appointment this month, 6 month check up on November 22, we will have her stats then. I was able to weigh her at one of Mom's Dr. offices.)

It has been a busy month for our little family, and we can hardly believe Olivia is almost 6 months old. She is learning so many new things every day, I feel like I can't keep up with it all. I just have left her baby book on the table so that I can write everything down. Just the other day I took her out front to wait for Daddy to get home, I sat her in the grass with me, and she just sat there all by herself. I was so proud and so was Ben when he pulled up and saw her. Then she lost her balance and took a face full of leaves. That she did not like as much, we do not like to be dirty. Oh the fun new pictures I will be able to take.

Trying to stay balanced.

We have been having some beautiful weather her especially in the morning. So Olivia and I have been taking full advantage of it by taking lots of morning walks. Little on is happy to wander in her stroller and take in the scenery. It's safe and she isn't getting dirty, she sure does take after me.

Morning walk.

This month we have grown out of many clothes and are even out of the 1's and into the 2's (diapers). She has been so active playing in her excer-saucer, rolling all over the floor, and always wanting to stand. I stood her up against the coffee table and just let her hold on, she was so excited that she could stand "on her own". I can see why she only gained a pound, she is working it off as fast as she can get it in her mouth. Let me tell you getting that bottle ready and in her mouth is never fast enough for Olivia. She now takes it right out of your hand and shoves it in her mouth. She is pretty good at holding it all by herself too, she just needs to learn how to tip it back to keep it flowing.

Happy Fall

Vroom Vroom...Baltimore or Bust

We are off and running (more driving then running) heading to Baltimore for our first family road trip. It sure has proved to be quite the adventure. It is hard to figure what is necessity to pack, what you think you might need, and what you will bring and never use, when you have a baby. I feel like I have packed her entire nursery and could always pack more. Ben would have killed me when he was trying to pack the car though.

Olivia helped me pack her suitcase and supervised Daddy packing the car!

Olivia was awesome on our adventure up the coast, we made it to the shore in 14 hours. She slept almost the entire trip all but 2 hours. We pulled up at 6:45am and woke up the whole house. The Shinnick's were so excited to see us and we were thrilled to see all of them and finally be there.

We spent Saturday and Sunday at the shore house and it was a beautiful weekend. The weather was great. Ben spent Sunday at the Raven's/Bronco's game, too bad that the Bronco's didn't win! Of course we had to have Crabs...no visit is complete without them.

It was a very busy week, we had to fit in a lot of things and visits while we were there. We went to lunch at the Inner Harbor, took Olivia to the National Aquarium, met our cousin Amanda in Hunt Valley, spent Friday in DC, took the girls to the Pumpkin Patch, and went to Old Town Ellicot City. You would think we were there for a month with all the things we managed to fit in.

Shark Mouth

Olivia is now fascinated with getting any and everything into her mouth. She tries to eat; shoulders, fingers, noses, and just about anything else within an arms reach. She also can now blow raspberries and does on the back of her hand, on your cheek, and on her toys. Although she hasn't figured out that if she does this over clothing the result is not the same, she just keeps trying. My daughter is not the giving up type, just like her Mama!

She even does a trick or what we call her trick. We learned the term "shark mouth" when we took the breast feeding class in the hospital. We have found this too be very true of little Olivia since the day she was born, not only did she give us "shark mouth" but she shakes her head as if she was attacking her prey as she latches on. It no longer applies to the boob but she now hears the term and does her trick and generally latches on to the closest thing. It gives us a great laugh and we stood in the kitchen repeating this many times..."Olivia do shark mouth!" and every time she would comply. Next time we will catch this on video for you all to enjoy.

Anything goes.

Trying to get close enough to taste it.

Blowing raspberries on it!

Fist of choice.

She wanted to pull the baby close to chew on her too.

Olivia's Garden

Since we have moved into our new house Olivia's room has been the top of the list to finish and it is finally complete minus drapes and her name needs to be put up! I was lucky to be able to do her nursery twice now and the second time was even better. We ended up having to change her bedding because when I ordered her first set they sent me part of it and by the time they sent the rest it was discontinued and I never got a matching set. So we went with our 2nd choice a set from Pottery Barn that we loved!

It's a pink flower theme and I worked on a few little craft projects to complete her Garden Room! It's perfect and will easily grow with her.

Ben, DJ, and James built my floating shelves!
