Daytona 500 Weekend

This past weekend was a big weekend with our family, we headed out to Daytona for the 500 on Saturday morning. Thankfully the weather has been beautiful and warm so we were able to enjoy just a little bit of time down on the beach. Olivia is now old enough to enjoy the sand and the water, but the water was a little to cold so we stuck with the sand.

Checking out the sand!
More sand!

Baby Butt

"I don't think I like this stuff on my finger!"

We dressed her in her new Lady Bug monokini, yep we were stylin', and set up our area. Once I sat Olivia on the blanket under the big umbrella I waited for her to crawl to the sand and just keep going. But that didn't happen the sand stopped her in her tracks, she just touched it with her fingers. I guess she really doesn't care for the texture of sand. She wouldn't move past the edge of the towels. Great idea for a babysitter, just fill the living room with sand and make her sit on a blanket in the middle.

I love this pic...Ben was trying to get her to
crawl to him using his beer.

Our Set Up

Below are two videos that we took of Olivia playing at the beach, she was so cute.

Our beach day was a little short because the breeze still made it pretty cool out after about an hour we got chilly and headed back up to the condo. After a quick bath to get all the sunscreen off, Daddy gave Olivia her first Babyhawk. She was pretty pleased that she finally has enough hair to do fun things with.

Once we were all dressed and thoroughly hungry, it was off to lunch at the Brickyard where we were super lucky that Olivia slept until we were leaving. That never happens, so a big thank you to the Nap Gods! After a beer and great burgers we took Olivia to see the trailers and festivities taking place the the race track since we were not taking her to the 500 the next day. She loved looking at all the new things, cars, the Clydesdale's, and souvenirs. Grandpa even bought her a Digger onsie. (For those of you who don't watch the races, Digger is a cam that shows a track view of the oncoming cars. He is a little gopher).

Another on of my favorites! She looks so small next to that giant tire.

Saturday night we met the Rose's for dinner at Clancy's Cantina and again a shout out to the God's of Sleep, Olivia slept almost the entire meal even through a live band!!! If you are ever in New Semerna, find Clancy's on Flagler Ave. their food was fantastic.

It was finally the big day, my first Daytona 500! I was so excited to get to the track, sporting my lanyard with our Garage and Pit Passes we headed straight out to the infield. It was going to be a great day. We wandered through all the grarages, watched Dale Jr.'s car go through inspection (my favorite driver), watched Dierks Bentley perform a song for Fox (I even got his autograph, although Julie just about passed out when he took her camera to get a photo with her.) We ended up hanging out a little to long and didn't have time to get to our seats, so we decided to just watch the race from behind Tony Stewart's pit box. It was such a great experience for all of us and ended up being a great day.

The End!

Yup, we are so sexy!

Ben and I even have duling tee tan's to prove it.

Now, check back because this is going to be one busy week for us! Olivia's 9 Month Birthday, her first Magic Game, a special Birthday, and festivities!!!
